Breaking news … Shooting at Jos. Campau business

At about 5 p.m., the Hamtramck Police Department issued a press release about a shooting of a robbery suspect.
Details are sketchy at this point, but the department says that at about 12:30 p.m. today (Friday, Oct. 9) a robbery was reported at a business in the 9500 block of Jos. Campau. The business was not identified, but sources say it happened at Naya’s Jewelry (located at 9538 Jos. Campau Ave.).
Upon arrival, officers found the owner of the business stabbed, and the robbery suspect shot. The identities of the victim and suspect were not released.
The press release further said:
“Both the suspect and the victim were transported to the hospital for treatment. The status of the victim and suspect is unknown at this time. It is believed that all potential suspects are in custody at this time and there is no threat to the public. The investigation is ongoing.”
As of 6 p.m., neither the victim nor the suspect had died of their injuries, according to a source.

    Hamtramck needs a friendly, visible, police presence; Walking through the neighborhoods, chatting with the folks, in order to prevent any type of criminal activity.
