Breaking news … Award offered for stolen Wheelhouse bike shop sign

Anyone know where this sign is? If so, the folks at Wheelhouse would like it back. It was recently stolen from the side of the building where the former bike shop was located.

Someone out there thinks they now have a cool looking sign.
But how they got it is not so cool. In fact, it’s theft.
The folks at the former Wheelhouse bike shop on Jos. Campau recently had to close down their business, but they left behind, temporarily, their custom-painted sign that was on the side of their building.
While they were figuring out where to place it next, someone recently stole it.
Here’s what the folks at Wheelhouse had to say about the theft on their Facebook page:
“Someone stole the sign off the side of the space that held Wheelhouse Detroit-Hamtramck for three years. Although we closed this location, our business is still operational.
“Our landlord was gracious enough to allow us to leave the sign up until we determined a new purpose and home for it. This sign was custom designed and hand painted by Detroit Sign Painters and required special approval from the City of Hamtramck.
“It was a labor of love and is very much loved. Perhaps you liked the sign and thought it would look good in your loft and since the business was closed, who would it harm?
“Small businesses are extremely personal. Your act of vandalism and theft is very hurtful. Please return the sign, no questions asked, to Amicci’s Pizza or Abick’s Bar.”
There is a $300 award for the return of the sign, or for information that leads to its return.
The sign is in three pieces (each piece is 4-feet by 8-feet), and is made of faux brick panels. The sign was custom designed and painted by Hamtramck-based Detroit Sing Painters.
Amicci’s Pizza is located at 9841 Jos. Campau, and Abick’s Bar is located in a southwest Detroit neighborhood at 3500 Gilbert St. – two streets west of Livernois and south of Michigan Ave.

You can also call the Hamtramck Police department at (313) 800-5281.
