Caniff rebuild project is worth the inconvenience

This is going to be a rough spring and summer for Hamtramck and its visitors.
Why?
Well, the city’s main artery to I-75 is being torn up and rebuilt. Construction has begun on Caniff Ave.
The project will go from the I-75 service drive to Jos. Campau. It is being largely paid for by the federal government to the tune of $1.5 million.
Already, there is pushback from some members of the community about the inconvenience this construction will cause. For sure, it will be a major inconvenience.
There is no way around that, and there is no way to soften the blow. Keep in mind, the city is getting brand-new pavement, as well as new water and sewer lines.
But just as with the rebuilding of Holbrook over the past two years, we can carry on.
Map out your detour plan now and share it with friends and family. We have all had a lot to bear this year with the pandemic, and there is no end in sight with that.
Hamtramckans have always risen up to meet any challenge. And this is going to be one of those moments.
