Crime Log… 3/27/15

This week’s Crime Log covers March 17-23.

Tuesday, March 17
At 12:30 a.m. a resident in the 3000 block of Caniff reported being assaulted by a neighbor.
At about 2 a.m. a Roosevelt resident reported being assaulted by her mother’s ex-boyfriend.
At 8 a.m. a resident reported the theft of their 2003 Jeep while it was parked in the 3400 block of Yemans. Later that day Hazel Park police said they recovered the vehicle and arrested a person.
At 9:30 a.m. a resident reported the theft of their 1999 Ford while it was parked at Caniff and Moran.
Walter’s Party store reported a man passed two fraudulent checks.
A resident reported an identity theft. The man said someone used his ID to obtain a loan from Chrysler Financial.
A man reported his ex-girlfriend took his iPad.
Three men were arrested following a traffic stop for a number of offenses, including driving without a license, resisting arrest and obstruction. One of the men was wanted on two felony warrants for robbery and burglary.
The owner of a business in the 11600 block of Jos. Campau reported a known suspect entered the store and stole the entire inventory.
Wednesday, March 18
A man was arrested on Hamtramck Dr. for being wanted on two Hamtramck warrants.
A juvenile was arrested for fighting. He was turned over to his mother.
Officers picked up a loose Rottweiler in the 3400 block of Comstock. The dog was transported to the Westland Humane Society.
A Detroit resident was arrested following a traffic stop for having a fraudulent license tab that had been stolen out of Detroit.
A person turned in a set of keys to the police station found at Gallagher and Caniff.
Thursday, March 19
A resident in the 2300 block of Geimer reported his car window had been broken.
A homeowner reported someone broke into his residence in the 2300 block of Poland and ransacked it.
Two residents were arrested after being caught scrapping a house in the 5000 block of Yemans.
A Detroit resident was arrested for fleeing the scene of an accident that caused an injury. It was noted that the resident had been caught driving without a license 33 times.
A Doremus resident reported a person she knows broke into her residence and stole prescription pills and a cell phone. The suspect was last seen fleeing in a purple car.
Friday, March 20
A Troy resident reported someone struck his 2014 Dodge Ram while it was parked in the 9300 block of Jos. Campau.
At about 5 a.m. officers noticed an open door of a residence in the 2700 block of Florian, and also noted signs that there had been a forced entry.

A resident in the 2400 block of Commor reported someone stole a package off of her porch.
A resident reported someone attempted to steal her 2004 Dodge Stratus while it was parked in the 11600 block of Mitchell.
An employee of a business on Buffalo reported a former employee threatened him.
A Detroit resident was arrested for shoplifting from a store in the 12000 block of Jos. Campau. The suspect also injured the store owner and resisted arrest.
A resident reported being swindled out of $2,500 after receiving a phone call from someone claiming she won $3 million and needed to send money to secure the winnings.

Saturday, March 21
At about 8 a.m. a resident reported the theft of their car while it was parked in the 3800 block of Doremus.
A resident reported someone broke into his grandfather’s residence and ransacked it.
A Nagel resident made a stalking report.
Sunday, March 22
A Detroit resident was arrested for breaking into a residence in the 11300 block of Nagel and for obstructing officers.
A resident in the 11600 block of Klinger reported someone broke into their garage and stole a number of items.
Two men attempted to steal clothing from Mr. Alan’s and then fled.
Monday, March 23
At a little after 2 a.m. a person in the police station lobby was arrested after officers discovered he was wanted on a Hamtramck warrant.
At almost 5 a.m. a resident was arrested for calling an ambulance because he needed a ride to a gas station.
PNC Bank reported that a woman cashed three checks that had been stolen.
A resident reported that someone broke the rear window of her car while it was parked in the 3900 block of Caniff.
A Detroit resident was arrested for trying to cash a bad check at a bank in the 9200 block of Jos. Campau.
An Eastpointe resident was arrested following a traffic stop for driving without a license (there were 14 previous violations for this offense) and being wanted on a felony warrant in Macomb County.
A Westland resident was arrested at Doremus and Buffalo for domestic violence.
