On Paczki Day, Hamtramck turns into ‘Party Town’

Paczki Day is next Tuesday (Feb. 21). Get ready for an all-day blast of fun.

Time to get your dancing shoes on.

Paczki Day is rolling our way a little earlier than last year.

Once again, the festivities begin with a pre-party called “Countdown to Paczki Day,” which is this Saturday (Feb. 18) in a heated tent at the Town Center parking lot on Jos. Campau just south of Holbrook.

The fun begins at 11 a.m. and runs until 3 p.m. On hand will be live Polish music by the Misty Blues and a performance by the Gwiazda Polish Dancers.

“Mr. Paczki” will be roaming around and Mayor Karen Majewski will be cutting it up on the dance floor. In case you’ve never seen our talented mayor perform some of her tricky folk dances, you are in for a treat.

Of course there will be a generous supply of free paczki samplings from our local bakeries.

And then on Paczki Day, this city is party center. If you want to explore the town, here’s a list of other places to drink and eat:
