Police seek information in shooting

By Charles Sercombe
Hamtramck has its first homicide of the year.
Last Friday at about 1 p.m., the family of a 34-year-old man living in the 3900 block of Prescott discovered his body.
Police say Antwann Lamont Woods was shot once, but declined to say where on his body he was shot.
Investigators are being tight-lipped about details of the shooting because it is still an open investigation. No arrests have been made.
Police Chief Max Garbarino said “there’s nothing definitive” about the motive.
The victim lived alone.
The city normally records two to three murders a year.
At press time Thursday, Police Chief Garbarino was asked if there were any updates. He said he was told by City Manager Katrina Powell that media inquiries must first be cleared with her.
By the time The Review went to press Thursday afternoon there was no reply.
Anyone with information about this case is encouraged to call Hamtramck police (313 876-7800) or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-Speak Up. Crime Stoppers offers a reward for information that leads to an arrest.
