          Despite facing three challengers, Mayor Karen Majewski managed to hang on in Tuesday’s Primary Election.

          Majewski came in second place, trailing Abdul Algazali by 61 votes.

          She should be able to collect the votes from challengers John Ulaj and Cathie Gordon in the fall and win a third term, but she has her work cut out.

          There were a total of 2,111 votes cast, which is about 500 more than usual for primary election with just local races involved. Nearly 800 absentee ballots were cast.

          City Council candidate Andrea Karpinski was the top vote-getter, garnering 837 votes.

          Here’s how the mayoral election results breakdown:

          Algazali: 731 (36.19 percent of the vote)

          Majewski: 670 (33.17 percent of the vote)

          Ulaj: 363 (17.97 percent of the vote)

          Gordon: 251 (12.43 percent of the vote)

          Under votes: 89

          Over votes: 2

          Write-in: 5

          In the election for the three seats that are four-year terms, the top six candidates will face-off in the November General Election. They are:

          Andrea Karpinski: 837 (17.92 percent of the vote)

          Mohammed Hassan: 764 (16.35 percent of the vote)

          Titus Walters: 542 (11.60 percent of the vote)

          Susan Dunn: 517 (11.07 percent of the vote)

          Rashad Almasmari: 407 (8.71 percent of the vote)

          Showkat Chowdhury: 404 (8.65 percent of the vote)

          The results for the remaining candidates for the four-year term are:

          Jewel Mohammed: 354 (7.58 percent of the vote)

          Anthony Liggett: 340 (7.28 percent of the vote)

          Armani Asad: 307 (6.57 percent of the vote)

          Richard Fabiszak: 195 (4.17 percent of the vote)

          Over votes: 18

          Under votes: 1,643

          Write-in: 5

          In the race for the one seat with a two-year term, the two top vote-getters who will face-off in the General Election are:

          Abu Musa: 738 (42.20 percent of the vote)

          Ian Perrotta: 363 (20.70 percent of the vote)

          The remaining candidates finished in this order:

          Darla Swint: 336 ((19.21 percent of the vote)

          Darren Grow: 159 (9.09 percent of the vote)

          Beverly Tran: 150 (.23 percent of the vote)

          Over votes: 5

          Under votes: 357

          Write-in: 4
