Public schools celebrate Cinco De Mayo with concert and art

Hamtramck got a little taste from south of the border last Wednesday on Cinco De Mayo Day.

Thanks to the combined bands from the Hamtramck Public Schools, a couple of hundred parents and friends of students enjoyed some toe-tapping renditions of “Tequila” and “La Bamba” during a special concert at the high school community center.

Besides the festive tunes, you could take a look at some wonderfully creative art pieces from the students and enjoy free nachos. Some parents and students got into the spirit of the day by wearing sombreros.

As they say, “Ole”!
