Thanksgiving is a time to relax and reflect

This week, we all celebrate Thanksgiving.
The holiday allows all of us to pause and reflect – and to be with our family and friends.
This year has once again been challenging. The Covid pandemic is now in its fourth wave in Michigan, and we are again seeing a surge of new cases.
Many of us can be thankful we survived another year of this. But it should be noted that over 3,000 of our residents have come down with the disease, and 58 have lost their lives to it over the past two years.
Those are frightening statistics.
Thanksgiving week also coincides with the kickoff of the annual Goodfellows drive to raise money for needy residents and families to have nice holiday meals this Christmas.
If you can spare a few bucks, be sure to contact the group. Our Goodfellows have been doing this for decades, and for that we are thankful and grateful.
You can read about the Goodfellows drive on the front page.
For the next several weeks, the holiday season will be upon us, and the weeks seem to fly by in a flurry. Everything moves too fast. Be sure to take some time for yourself this week, and take stock of all the things you have to be thankful about.
And remember, keep taking all the recommended health precautions – including masking up while out in public – to avoid becoming a Covid statistic.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
