Review celebrates its 10th anniversary

Thank you, Hamtramck.
This year marks our 10th anniversary serving this community. It’s been a fun ride, and we hope to stick around for at least another 10 years, serving as the city’s “official newspaper of record.”
The paper’s beginning was a challenge. Mike Wilcox started up the paper after the city’s longtime weekly newspaper The Citizen went out of business.
Wilcox was no stranger to the community. He had at one time owned The Citizen and sold it to two businessmen who kept it going for two years before folding.
The Citizen went out of business in its 75th anniversary year. Apparently, time was up for that old gray lady.
The Review seemed to energize the community, and many folks were happy to have a local paper back in business.
After a few months, Wilcox sold the paper to local real estate broker John Ulaj.
Ulaj, a real estate broker, is certainly no stranger to the community, having grown up here and gone through the public schools and graduating from Hamtramck High School.
“It’s been a distinct honor to serve this community,” he said.
We will be planning some special celebrations in the coming year to show our appreciation. And as always, we are honored to be serving you.
