Best to prepare for possible ICE patrols

Will ICE (Immigrations and Customs Enforcement) agents really start rounding up illegal immigrants in town?
That may be a question folks will have in their minds since it became known that the agency, through the Department of Homeland Security, is seeking people with law enforcement experience to join up and patrol this area.
At this point it’s not known if ICE will follow through on this. But, if they do come here, it’s already known (through various on-the-ground media reports) how aggressive the agents can act. And, if ICE does come to Hamtramck, it’s likely to be an ugly scene.
We don’t mean to alarm folks, but in these uncertain times, it’s best if our immigrant neighbors and residents prepare themselves, and make sure they carry proper documentation.
Unfortunately, the media reports we’ve seen show that some ICE agents have been using excessive force, and have acted indiscriminately regardless of citizenship and immigration status.
It’s important our immigrant neighbors familiarize themselves with the rights they have to be here.
In the meantime, all of us need to remain aware of our surroundings, and inform our immigrant neighbors if they should remain indoors if it comes to that.
Prepare now folks, and hope all of this is just talk.
