A big thanks goes out to festival volunteers

This weekend, Hamtramck will host its annual Labor Day Festival, and — from what we have heard from organizers — it could be one of the best in years.
We thank the organizers and volunteers, all of whom are unpaid, who make this festival possible. Think about that, because hours and hours of work and planning goes into making this massive event a success.
Organizers say this year’s festival will be bigger and better than ever.
Look for more food vendors and more craft folks selling original art pieces, and other fun and funky items to purchase.
The second band stage has returned this year, which offers up even more music performers.
Of course, the popular canoe race returns for some wet and wild fun on Monday.
And what we are really excited about is Hamtramck’s own homegrown parade on Labor Day.
In the past, that day featured the Polish Day Parade, but those organizers scooted out of town and will now hold their parade in Warren.
From what we hear from parade organizers, this new parade is going to feature the city’s amazing cultural diversity, and will offer something for everyone.
Knowing Hamtramck, you can expect a healthy dose of humor.
Enjoy folks — it’s our last unofficial weekend of summer fun.
