Celebrating the Fourth has new meaning this year

This holiday weekend will be extra special this year.
Thanks to Hamtramck firefighters, residents will be enjoying a fireworks show this Saturday night. Our firefighters entered and won a contest sponsored by Destination America, a cable TV show, which will cover the costs of the event.
The essay contest wanted to know what makes our city so unique. Well, it’s no secret that Hamtramck is one of the most ethnically diverse communities in the country, and now everyone knows it.
It is truly something worth celebrating, because our diversity is a reflection of the American Dream – a place where we can start off new and become a success.
Destination America is indeed putting on quite a show. Besides some major fireworks fun, the cable series will provide loads of entertainment, including pony rides and free food.
From what we have heard, the City of Hamtramck at one time sponsored fireworks decades ago.
Saturday’s show promises to be a real treat. Thanks, Destination America for choosing Hamtramck.
