          This week’s Crime Log covers Sept. 3-9.

Tuesday, Sept. 3

          Employees at the Mobil gasoline station on Caniff reported that three men entered the station and grabbed numerous food items and then fled without paying.

          A woman reported that while she and a friend were sitting in her car at Lumpkin near Commor, a man and a woman approached them as if to talk but when the woman refused to talk back, a second man grabbed the woman’s leather purse. The suspects then fled.

          A man reported that while walking to Baker’s Bar on Jos. Campau a man grabbed his Apple iPhone4 and ran away. The victim also ran after the suspect but lost him.

          A man was arrested for obstructing police officers after he aggressively antagonized the department’s K-9 dog.             

          A man living in the 9400 block of Gallagher St. reported someone stole his unlocked bicycle he had in his enclosed back porch.

          A Yemans St. woman was arrested for failing to pay her Hamtramck income taxes.

          A St. Aubin St. resident reported his car tire was slashed.

          A man reported that while working in his yard on Caniff near Buffalo an unknown man came up to him and snatched a gold chain from his neck.

          A resident reported that her daughter opened a Verizon cell phone account in her name without permission and ran up bill of over $700.

 

Wednesday, Sept. 4

          At about 1:30 a.m. a man living in the 11600 block of Lumpkin St. reported being assaulted while in his car. The suspect fled with the keys to his car.

          A person reported being sexually assaulted by someone the person knows while they were in a parked car at Caniff and Lumpkin.

          A man was arrested for attempting to cash a fraudulent check at Huntington Bank on Jos. Campau and Holbrook.

          A resident reported someone opened a credit card in her name and made purchases with it.

          A Sobieski St. woman reported that the father of her child broke several items in her house, assaulted her and then fled.

          Officers witnessed a man urinating on the Pope monument and arrested him. Marijuana was also found on the man.

Thursday, Sept. 5

          A resident living in the 2400 block reported that at 2 a.m. someone threw a brick at the side of his house, causing damage to the siding.      

          At about 6 a.m. a man was arrested for breaking and entering a house in the 5000 block of Edwin St.

          A woman reported that someone spray-painted her 1998 Audi.

          A resident reported being assaulted in a parking lot next to a Conant restaurant.

Officers responded to the Hamtramck Housing Projects on a report of a man with a gun. After interviewing the man, it was found out he had a permit to carry a gun, and that the tipster was purposely misleading officers.

 

Friday, Sept. 6

          A Faber St. man reported he recovered his stolen bike from a person known to him.

                                                                                     

          A resident living in the 9300 block of Charest St. reported a break-in and a damaged front door.

          At a little after midnight, a resident living in the 3300 block of Comstock St. reported that a man named “Craig” stabbed him and then fled.

          At about 12:30 a.m. a person was arrested in the 2000 block of Caniff for panhandling.

          A woman living in the 2400 block of Danforth St. was arrested for assaulting her boyfriend.

          A landlord reported that his tenant wrote $6,000 worth of bad checks to cover his rent.

          A resident reported that someone opened a Verizon cell phone account in his name and activated six lines.

          A McDougall St. resident said someone stole his bicycle from his backyard.

          A Hamtramck woman was arrested after assaulting her friend.    

Saturday, Sept. 7

          At about 2 a.m. a man was arrested for urinating in public while at Caniff and Conant.

          A little after 2 a.m., two people were arrested for being disorderly and obstructing officers following a fight they were in.   

          At about 1:30 a.m. a man living in the 3900 block of Dorothy St. reported the theft of his 2007 Cadillac.

          A woman said an ex-friend stole her phone while in a Jos. Campau bar, and then the ex-friend used bank account information stored in the phone to make fraudulent purchases.

          A resident living on Faber St. said someone broke into his apartment and stole camera equipment.

          A man who was jogging in the area of Casmere and McDougall reported he was assaulted by three suspects. Police soon after arrested the suspects.

 

Sunday, Sept. 8

 

          A man living in the 11800 block of Fleming St. was arrested for punching his girlfriend in the face.

          A resident reported that he sent money through eBay to a person in California who was allegedly selling a car. As it turned out, it was a fake eBay account.

          A man living in the 3800 block of Prescott St. reported someone broke into his house and stole a 32-inch television, a Playstation and electronic games.

 

Monday, Sept. 9

          On three separate occasions, officers were sent to a house in the 3200 block of Trowbridge St. where witnesses said two men were walking in and out of an unoccupied house. The doors and windows were secured.

          At 1 a.m. a man was ticketed for disturbing the peace after refusing to turn down his radio while in front of a house in the 11600 block of Mitchell St.

A little after 1 a.m. a man was arrested after stabbing his girlfriend with a Phillips head screwdriver while at the Mobil gasoline station on Caniff.

A Moran St. resident said someone broke into his garage and stole lawn equipment.

          An Eastpointe resident reported he gave money to a man who said he was organizing a gospel walk-a-thon. When the Eastpointe resident called a phone number on a receipt he was given, he was informed no one was collecting money for the event.

          A Detroit resident was arrested at Best Bank after attempting to open an account with a fraudulent check.

          A Neibel St. resident reported receiving harassing phone calls.

          A Macomb Township resident reported someone changed the contact information of her corporation.
