School Bell … 12/9/22

HPS District news
The teachers and students have been busy as second quarter progress reports go out this week.
Students were given free mittens from Mittens for Detroit. Through the workings of Hamtramck Public Schools teacher, Chris Wilinski and the executive director, Wendy Shepherd, all elementary schools were gifted with gloves or mittens. This is perfect timing as the weather is getting colder and we need to bundle up.

On Friday, Dec. 2, Miss Rakoczy, first grade teacher and the crew from “Mojo in the Morning, Breaking and Entering Christmas Wish” surprised one of her students, Sebastian Wroblewski and his family.
Staff from the Early Childhood Elementary dressed in their Santa entire, members of the Wroblewski family and Hamtramck police officer Taipala with Mike from “Mojo in Morning” showered the family with surprises early 7 a.m.
The family was quite surprised! There was not a dry eye in the house as Mojo read the letter Miss Rakoczy wrote nominating the family.
Truly, it will be a special Christmas for everyone!

Free vaccines
Hamtramck Public Schools and the FRD Pharmacy Sav-Mor Drug Store are partnering to bring a vaccine clinic to students, staff and district families from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 12 at the Hamtramck High School Community Center.
The cost for coronavirus vaccines is free, while flu vaccines may be anywhere from free to $120 depending on insurance coverage. See you there!

Spotlight on our staff
This week we celebrate our special education students as they take strides in their academic journey, and we applaud our staff for their unwavering commitment.
