The political future of Councilmembers Abu Musa and Muhith Mahmood is now in doubt.
A special city council meeting will be held today, Friday, April 25, at noon to determine whether Councilmembers Musa and Mahmood should be disqualified from being on the primary election ballot.
According to City Clerk Rana Faraj, a private investigator has evidence that neither of them are Hamtramck residents.
In the past, Musa has been linked to an address in Warren, and Mahmood to a house in Troy. Both have said that their spouses do not live here.

Musa is seeking another term on council, and Mahmood is a candidate for mayor.
Their political future is in the hands of the city council to decide whether they can remain on the ballot.
No matter what, the city says it will not seek perjury charges. Both signed an affidavit swearing that they are residents under the threat of facing felony perjury charges.
There is nothing stopping a resident from filing a complaint with the state police or state attorney general.
The council cannot remove them immediately from the council. Faraj says only the governor can remove an elected official from office.
