For a few brief seconds, a “Wild West” shootout happened at Pulaski and Jos. Campau on Friday afternoon.
Hamtramck police say that at about 5:30 p.m., two males were walking at that intersection when a black sedan pulled up and a volley of gunshots rang out.
At this point, police say there were no apparent injuries.
In all, police say over 30 rapid shots were fired.
All parties involved fled the scene.
Steve Paljusevic said he was one block away at Commor when the he heard the shots.
“It was loud,” he said.
Paljusevic said he immediately took shelter between two houses.
He later said: “It was not my time to die.”
Heather Martin, who lives on Pulaski but was not home, said her security camera alerted her to something going on.
“My ring camera was going crazy,” Martin said. “From what I gather it could have been a shootout. Wild West. That’s all I can say. Sucks that I no longer feel I can leave home due to the rash of crime in the city and I have to worry about my home.”
Another Pulaski St. resident said he was upstairs in his house when the shots were fired. When he went outside to investigate he discovered two of his windows had been shot out.
So far this year, there have been no homicides in Hamtramck.
Anyone who has information about this incident is asked to call the Hamtramck Police Department at (313) 800-5280.
