Want to get in on Hamtramck’s hot property market?
If so, and you’re willing to develop a city lot into a housing unit, register now to be a part of the on-going auction.
Hamtramck has 26 properties to sell off, most of which are lots, except for one that is a tax foreclosed home.
Successful bidders are required to bring the property up to code if it’s a house or building, or, if it’s a vacant lot, construct a new housing unit on it within two years of purchase.
The house in question is at 11763 Dyar, located west of the I-75 divide in Hamtramck, which offers a spectacular backyard view of some Sterling Oil fuel storage tanks.
It costs $50 to enter the auction, and there’s a $500 good faith deposit per property, which will go toward the purchase price if you are the lucky bidder.
Bids are due no later than April 1, also known as April Fool’s Day, but don’t let that turn you off. Just a coincidence.
For more information, call the City Clerk at (313) 800-5233, extension 821, or the Community and Economic Development Department at (313) 800-5233, extension 818.
Or, you can go to the city’s website at: hamtramckcity.gov, and go to the “Resources” link and then click on ‘property for sale.”

Looking at the BSA Online website, there are a lot of lots that the city owns that are not on this list. How does the city figure out which to list and which not to list?

why doesn’t the city build city owned companies on these lots and employ the poor? they can build micro factories and ship out textiles to other countries. they can build city owned grocery stores and compete with al haramaine. it’s a bad idea to sell them off. it’s time local government got more involved in the local economy. you know what? this can be a great campaign pitch for karen when election time comes.
