Guest Editorial … Now is the time to prepare for severe weather

By Hamtramck Fire Chief Matthew Wyszczelski
Spring in Michigan means there is a strong chance for severe weather, so to prepare, the State of Michigan has declared the week of March 17 through March 23 to be Severe Weather Awareness Week.
People around the State should use this week to become educated on what to do in case of severe weather and to review their emergency plans.
In addition to an emergency plan, everyone should have an emergency preparedness kit, with supplies to last at least three days.
There will also be a statewide tornado drill being conducted on Wednesday, March 20 at 1 p.m.
