Hamtramck veterans and residents gathered on Saturday morning to salute those who served.
The Hamtramck Allied Veterans Council once again hosted the ceremony at PLAV Post 10 Hall.
A toast was held at 11 a.m., followed by the signing of patriotic songs. The Veteran of the Year, Jay Russell, could not attend because of a health issue.His girlfriend accepted the award on his behalf.
Mayor Karen Majewski spoke briefly.
To the veterans attending she said: “The city thanks you, the country thanks you, and I thank you.”
Also attending were Councilmembers Saad Almasmari and Ian Perrotta, Council-elect Fadel Al-Marsoumi and Fire Chief Dan Hagen.

My Family Has A Long History in Hamtramick ,We lived Across the street from the city hall . And Park . Right where the strawberry festival was every year . Oh the Story’s I Could Tell.
