It’s been quite a while since Hamtramck High School produced this many graduates.
Some 173 seniors attended graduation ceremony last Friday. The Class of 2013 chose a quote from Dr. Seuss to sum up their school experience: “How did it get so late so soon?”
That dovetailed nicely with the message from Keynote Speaker, State Representative John Olumba who used the Latin phrase “Carpe Diem” to inspire the class.
Translation: “Seize the day.”
“When you get an opportunity to get a victory, do it then,” Olumba said.”
District Superintendent Tom Niczay also reminded the students that although graduating from high school is a milestone in life, there is plenty more to come.
“You are just beginning the journey into adulthood,” Niczay said. “Make choices for your future, not for the moment.”
