Opinion: Hamtramck to the state AG: do your job

City Clerk Rana Faraj expressed the frustration of many here in town.
Namely: why hasn’t the state Attorney General’s Office moved forward on an investigation of alleged illegal handling of ballots from the 2023 city council election?
The Wayne Court 3rd Circuit Court has listed three individuals, including two councilmembers, as facing pending charges. But, from what’s been explained by those familiar with the legal process, no formal charges have been brought before a court.
This weird legal limbo is not fair to those accused, or to the public.
The Attorney General’s Office refuses to explain the situation, which by this point is baffling.
Hamtramck deserves to know whether our election outcomes are being tampered with, and we deserve to have legal action taken if so.
We wouldn’t blame anyone for thinking that elections here shouldn’t be trusted because there are folks purposely ballot harvesting.
City Clerk Faraj says there is evidence, recorded on security cameras, that shows possible wrongdoing in the 2023 election.
The Attorney General is supposed to make sure our elections are honest and accurate.
Do your job.

It certainly would not have been “convenient” for Michigan Attorney General to institute criminal proceedings against fellow Democrats a few weeks before a presidential election – ESPECIALLY if these “suspects” were endorsing Kamala Harris.

Dana Nessel is a politician and the continued inaction may just be politics as usual in Hamtramck and with the Democratic Party leadership in general in this state.

I am not holding my breath on Nessel to anything until it is politically expedient to do so.

Politics can and often do supersede the Rule Of Law.
