Some good police work led to the capture of two robbery suspects.
For three weeks in a row, patrons leaving Shadow Bar on Jos. Campau and Holmes have been preyed upon by two robbery suspects. Last Saturday night, two officers staked out the area and noticed the suspects.
A car chase and then a foot chase ensued, ending with the arrest of James Jackson, 21, of Detroit. During the chase, an officer was injured in his wrist and arm.
The driver of the get-away car escaped, but turned himself in this week. Darius Dade, 23, of Detroit, was arraigned this week on several charges, including armed robbery. He is in jail in lieu of posting a $50,000 bond.
Jackson was also charged with several crimes, including armed robbery and resisting an officer, resulting in injury. Police were able to identify Dade through the license plate on the get-away car, which was registered to Dade’s mother. Dade did not stay at his mother’s house after the chase.
Detective Michael Szymanski praised the work of the officers.
“They happened to be in the right place at the right time,” he said.
