Call him the casual bank robber.
On Wednesday (Jan. 13) at about 11 a.m. a man went into Best Bank inside Glory Foods, walked up to a teller, implied he had a gun and demanded money.
After receiving money, which investigators declined to say how much was stolen, the suspect left on foot. Instead of immediately getting into a car, the suspect was seen walking down Hewitt St. — the street next to the bank – in no apparent rush.
The suspect was equally casual about hiding his face. He waited until he got up to the teller’s window to pull down a ski mask. The bank’s camera captured his image before he covered his face.
Police say they have several good leads on who the suspect is and were able to retrieve fingerprints.
The suspect is described as a black male wearing a dark knit hat (black or green), black winter coat, dark pants and dark winter boots with a light colored sole.
Glory Foods is located in the Hamtramck Town Plaza, located at Jos. Campau and Holbrook. If anyone has information about the suspect, call the Hamtramck Police Department at (313) 876-7803.
