School Bell … 5/12/23

From the Superintendent
HPS Superintendent Jaleelah Ahmed posted this message to teachers during “National Teacher Appreciation Week”:
As we head into the final weeks of the school year, I want to thank you for your tireless dedication and unwavering commitment to our students, families, community and each other.
While this week officially marks National Teacher Appreciation Week, my gratitude for your work and all that you mean to our school district cannot be contained within such a small period of time. In recognition of National Teacher Appreciation Week, every building leader has been allocated a budget as a gesture of appreciation towards our staff.
“Teaching is the art of assisting discovery.” This quote highlights the role of teachers in facilitating learning and helping students discover their potential. It emphasizes the creativity and passion required to be an effective teacher and how your efforts can shape the future of our students.
At Hamtramck Public Schools, we are fortunate to have an exceptional team of passionate educators throughout our schools who are devoted to providing our students with a high-quality learning experience in an engaging and nurturing environment. You are the foundation of the district and have been there for our school community throughout the school year.
Over the past several years, we have faced many challenges, but we have been able to successfully address those challenges because of the team spirit evident in our schools and classrooms. By working as a team, we can ensure that our students receive the high-quality educational experience they deserve.
This is the most exciting time of the school year, with the Class of 2023 getting ready to walk across the stage and our younger students moving up to the next grade level. It’s a time of celebration for all that has been accomplished during the school year; those accomplishments are the results of your hard work.
Thank you for all that you do, and enjoy this well-deserved recognition!

Celebration
May is Asian American and Pacific-Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month! We celebrate the history, culture and contributions of the AAPI community in and honor their impact on our society.

Get physical
This Physical Fitness Month, we encourage our students to find a physical activity they love. Not only can activity be fun, but it also eases symptoms of stress, anxiety and depression and reduces risk of chronic disease.
