This Tuesday is the day.
On Aug. 6 (yes, it’s actually August now) it’s primary election day, with polls opening at 7 a.m. and closing at 8 p.m.
For those who want to get a head start on voting, early voting began last week and continues through tomorrow and Sunday in city hall.
Also, if you voted by absentee ballot but haven’t turned it in yet, you have until the end of the day Tuesday to submit it.
As usual, the ballots are available in three languages: English, Arabic and Bangladeshi.
This election will decide which candidate will survive to faceoff in November’s election for the U.S. senate, U.S. representative, state representative, Wayne County Commission, and two county ballot issues: one to renew a parks millage, and another to amend the county charter.
There are other races as well.
Not registered to vote yet?
In Michigan, it is now legal to register to vote on election day. So if you are at least 18 years old, and a resident of Hamtramck, get yourself signed up to vote in Hamtramck.
According to weather predictions for Tuesday, as of Thursday when we went to press, there will be partly sunny skies and temps in the low 80s.
