A 31-year-old Detroit man has been charged in the shooting death of another Detroiter who was walking on Conant.
Ladaren Mixon was arrested on Tuesday, and he was arraigned Wednesday morning on the following charges:
o Homicide 1st Degree Premeditated
o Weapon Firearms Possession by felon
o Felony Firearm
Bond was set at $2 million, and his next court date is May 20.
The police department decline to identify the victim, who was shot on April 24 while walking on Conant at Commor.
The Review has filed a Freedom of Information Act request for the victim’s name. The city said it will respond on May 24.
Witnesses said several shots were fired.
There has been speculation that this shooting was related to another shooting that occurred the day before, in a neighborhood near Jayne Field.
Police are not saying what the possible motive was for the shooting, nor whether it was connected to that other shooting, which also resulted in a death.
This was the city’s first homicide of the year.
