Breaking news … Go to city hall for help with filling out financial help for flood damage

Update: FEMA’s Disaster Recovery Center in city hall has changed their hours of operation to 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. The center is also now open Monday through Saturday. Sunday hours are canceled.

Help is still available for those who are seeking federal financial relief from the June 25-26 flooding here in Hamtramck.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is hosting a Disaster Recovery Center in Hamtramck City Hall starting this Tuesday (Aug. 17), from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. through this Sunday, Aug. 22.
FEMA representatives will help you fill out applications for financial help to replace appliances and damage to your household.
According to a press release issued by FEMA the following assistance will be available:
“At recovery centers, representatives from FEMA, U.S. Small Business Administration, Michigan State Police, Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division, and other state agencies are available to explain disaster assistance programs, answer questions about written correspondence and provide literature about repairs and rebuilding to make homes more disaster resistant.”
The recovery center will be located in city hall’s second floor.
Those seeking assistance must wear masks to enter city hall.

Also, translators will be on site to help out.
Flooding claims apply only to the June 25-26 event.
