Oh man, what a party.
Saturday’s fundraiser for the Hamtramck Labor Day Festival was nothing short of a blast. From what we could tell, a couple hundred folks came to The Review’s office and ate, drank and danced all night in our swanky new courtyard.
In all, over $3,000 was raised to help offset costs of the festival.
There’s a long list of thanks, but we have to hand it to Danny D. First off, if you have never seen Danny perform, rush right out and grab the next show you can because he is a fantastic performer.
And Danny really knows how to work a crowd. He single-handedly cajoled and encouraged people to donate. And a big thanks goes out to Mike Wilk who got the whole ball of donation giving thing rolling.
A big thanks also goes out to Post 10, Mars Bar and Royal Kabob for donating food and services. They all made a special night become a huge success.
Another thanks goes out to Mayor Karen Majewski who danced up a storm and entertained us all night long.
The Hamtramck Police Department gets a big shout out for stopping by and making sure everything was safe and secure.
And another big thanks goes out to festival co-chairs Kathleen Bittner and Rachel Srodek for their invaluable help in organizing the party and playing host Saturday night (and they’re pretty good dancers too).
The list goes on and on but the biggest thanks goes out to all who partied with us and those who donated but couldn’t make it.
Let’s do this again soon because, to paraphrase the Howling Diablos, there ain’t no party like a Hamtown party because a Hamtown party don’t stop.
Need proof? Just take a look at all the photos we’re posting this week. Enjoy.
