Hamtramck has long been known for its unique dining experience, and the cultural diversity you can find here.
And now, we have a local pizzeria that earned a spot on the New York Times “Best Pizza Places” in the whole U.S. of A.
No, we’re not talking about everyone’s favorite of all places, Buddy’s, which technically is located just outside of Hamtramck in Detroit.
Instead, we’re talking about our very own Amar Pizza, located on Jos. Campau and Carpenter. It has made the list with 21 other pizza spots nationwide.
Amar, as many know, is the home to infamous “Ghost Pizza,” which challenges even the most experienced hot pepper freaks. Trust us, it’s not for the faint of heart.
Not all of their pizza selections come spicy hot, but you will experience a one-of-a-kind specialty no matter what you choose.
That’s because the Bengali-owned shop offers “gourmet pizzas with a unique fusion of American and Eastern spices with their house made sauce,” as they say.
And that blending of spices is no accident. Hey, you want to make it in the pizza business in the Detroit area, where the competition is tough, it requires some out-of-the-pizza-box thinking.
Amar owner Khurshed Ahmed explained his approach to the fine art of pizza making to the New York Times:
“We had to come up with something unique, to separate us.”
Well, you have to hand to Ahmed, he caught the attention of a lot of people.
Enjoy the uptick in business!
