Hark the herald angels sing, glory to the new born king – peace on earth, so the song goes. It’s one of my favorite Christmas songs and truly a classic one.
Peace indeed is something that the whole world yearns and longs for. Christmas can be a time of either great joy or sadness. We all struggle through life, some suffer from depression, others from anxiety, disease, loss of loved ones — the list goes on. It’s amazing to see how prevalent and widespread these problems have become.
Personally, I feel very blessed with wonderful family and friends and I know how important they are in my life. Life can be wonderful but we all have good days and bad days. To those who are suffering at this time of the year, I would like to say that there is wonderful news about Christmas that begins with faith and hope in God’s promise to the world.
In the Bible, the prophet Isaiah says, “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”
This wonderful verse speaks of the birth of Jesus Christ the Savior, and it is my belief that when you trust in him you are not alone in life’s struggles – He is with you. He truly is the Prince of Peace that is so desperately needed in our world today and will one day fulfill his promise and establish a peaceful kingdom on earth. This indeed is the precious gift of God’s love to the world.
Once again I would like to wish you and your family as, Neil Diamond puts it, “A Merry Cherry Christmas” and a Happy New Year.
