Happy Easter everyone! Spring has finally arrived, and now many warm, adventurous days lie before us. What a great joy to be alive, and to enjoy life’s most precious treasures on this Earth of God’s creation!
We are continually inundated by the media with how terrible the world is, and so we feel keenly how fear has gained dominion over our daily lives. There is a choice that we must confront, between two lives: Either we live always in fear, or else we enjoy life more abundantly (as Jesus The Only Begotten Son of God states it).
You have the power to choose. Life is beautiful and wonderful, but yes, evil will always be present. Easter is a reminder that death has been conquered by the power of God (In Christ Jesus Our Lord), and that whosoever believeth in him shall never die. Let us therefore focus on life’s most significant things — friends and family — and learn to be still and at rest in The Lord.
This is truly God’s desire for Humanity: that we learn to how to rest in Him. Have you ever found yourself preoccupied or obsessed with something? It’s easy for a single negative or stressful line of thought to crowd out all others. While we feel as though we may have little control over circumstances, or the thoughts that come knocking on our “mind’s door” in response, there is hope: we can adjust the direction of our thoughts.
I’ve mentioned this numerous times in the past: that many among us believe they have the antidote to life’s maladies, or some kind of way for bringing the peace and balance that mankind has long been waiting for. This belief has been with us for many centuries.
But the clue as to the only one who can truly do this comes in one of my favorite Bible quotes, John 14:27: “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
Jesus spoke these words, knowing the pain and suffering awaiting Him the next day. Fear is a powerful force, and if it comes to dominate our thoughts, it limits our potential and stifles our growth. It interferes with God’s plan for our lives. Prosperity and victory await us, but we must not be afraid to grab hold of it.
The powerful truth of his resurrection gives us the strength to be confident conquerors in everything we do. We are essentially simple creatures, who often struggle to hold various thoughts in our minds at once, especially when our worries and fears try to take over.
Despite our weaknesses, however, God’s promise never changes. We can return to Him time and time again. His peace never fades. We can welcome Him into our hearts and minds, despite the chaotic storms of life swirling around us.
His Peace can become our anchor, holding us steadfast despite these crashing waves and forceful winds of life’s troubles. Have you sought His Help and Peace today?
As Josh McDowell noted: “No matter what happens to you, no matter the depth of tragedy or pain you face, no matter how death stalks you and your loved ones, the Resurrection promises you a future of immeasurable good.”
I wish you and all of yours a healthy, happy and above all Peaceful Easter season!
