Happy Fourth of July!
We hope this holiday weekend finds you in good health and good spirits.
Hamtramck has been through a lot in recent weeks and months, with a number of city officials under a cloud of alleged wrongdoings and possible illegal activities.
We know, however, that to most folks, that’s all a sideshow. Their daily lives are consumed with just getting by. This is a weekend to take a break from the weekly grind, and enjoy family and friends, and invite folks over for a barbecue.
What it comes down to, here in Hamtramck, is family, friends and neighbors getting along. The antics of elected officials are far from the minds of most residents.
In Michigan, spring, summer and fall are precious times of the year before winter’s long, and sometimes brutal, cold settles in.
As you can tell by reading this week’s issue, we are taking a little break from the onslaught of news this little city manages to produce week after week.
As we pointed out last week, for those celebrating the Fourth, please rethink any plan to set off fireworks. A lot of people hate them, and their pets are often scared half to death by the noise.
Come on, don’t be one of those annoying neighbors.
Besides, fireworks are dangerous if you are not super-careful. Don’t ruin your holiday by getting injured.
Take time, also, to reflect on why we celebrate the Fourth – especially in these politically chaotic times.
