Last Friday, when the nation mourned the eighth anniversary of 9/11, Hamtramck firefighters received some extra protection.
Their new pumper truck was officially blessed Friday morning by visiting Priest Greg Rozborski at St. Florian Church. The day was not lost on Rozborski.
“Pray for all the firefighters who passed away, especially those in New York,” he said.
A moment of silence was held to acknowledge the terrible loss of lives on 9/11.
After circling the truck and dousing it with holy water, Rozborski left with these parting words: “Be the best you can be.”
And with that, the truck was officially in operation.
