Can’t stand to wait for Paczki Day to arrive?
Hamtramck apparently can’t and will celebrate four days early with a “Countdown to Paczki Day.”
The special event – coming this Saturday (Feb. 13) — was also held the last few years. Each year it seems to grow in popularity, and how can it not when you can get all the free paczki you can eat?
Also featured will be live polka music supplied by the Misty Blues, Polish folk dancers, arts and crafts and special giveaways from the folks at the U.S. Census Bureau. The fun will be held under a heated tent set up in the Town Center parking lot at Jos. Campau and Holbrook. It starts at 11 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m.
On Paczki Day, next Tuesday (Feb. 16) the local bars and clubs will be going full tilt. Over at Post 10, live entertainment will be offered starting at 10 a.m. A paczki eating contest will be held there at 1 p.m., and Hamtramck’s own superb Rod Stewart tribute artist, Danny D, will perform at 3 p.m. Post 10 is located at 11824 Jos. Campau.
Hamtramck’s ever-popular satire rockers The Polish Muslims better fatten up on some paczki because they have a super busy day and will need all the energy they can muster. You can catch them at:
