Vote for bike racks in Hamtramck

By Charles Sercombe
Hamtramck is not only a walkable community, it’s also biker-friendly.
As in bicycles.
Well, almost.
The city’s Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is part of a campaign to steer $5,000 in funding from the Michigan Municipal League Bridge Builder Main Street Microgrant program to Hamtramck.

The funding will be used to install eight bike racks in the city, specifically on Jos. Campau.
To make this happen, you have to vote for Hamtramck by going online at:

Racks for Rides: Inter-RACK-tive design for a Bikeable Hamtramck

You can vote once every 24 hours, but the voting stops after Friday, July 16. Yeah, we know, late notice on our part but we were just made aware of this.
Here’s what the DDA has to say about the project.
“This project will increase the community’s bike capacity and support future development. It will also re-engage residents and local artists in the downtown area, creating a greater sense of community and help local businesses recover from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
